Summary and Outlook

MPI is a practical, portable, efficient, and flexible standard for message passing.
Although unofficial, its development has been strongly supported by almost all the major vendors, and it seems likely that implementations will quickly become available for a wide range of systems.
The vendors participating were IBM, Intel, Meiko, Ncube, Convex.
