- abstract
-
The IBM Visualization Data Explorer (Data Explorer or simply DX) is a
general-purpose software package for data visualization and analysis. It
employs a data-flow driven client-server execution model and provides a
graphical program editor that allows the user to create a visualization using a
point and click interface.
In general, DX provides support for interactive visualization and
analysis of both observed and simulated data.
- environment
-
It is currently available on Unix workstations from Sun, Silicon Graphics,
IBM, Hewlett-Packard, DEC and Data General.
If a workstation has hardware support for three-dimensional graphics, then
DX can utilize it. On IBM and Silicon Graphics workstations, gl or opengl is
employed. On Hewlett-Packard workstations, Starbase is used. On Sun
workstations, XGL is employed. On DEC workstations, opengl is used.
