Steven Pollack,

: What program would be useful for analyzing correlations between various data sets for econometric model creations?

A very nice and capable object oriented language called
Ox is available for econometric applications. I have found it
very good. If you are familiar with C/C++ there is almost
zero learning time!

Check it out at http://163.1.146.5/Users/Doornik/doornik.html

: Also, is there a downloadable program for doing simple math functions on large numbers such as pi?

There is an "arbitrary precision calculator", may be on sunsite.edu.
There are also arbitrary precision math libraries in C available on the net, which
are easy to locate.
