There is no automatic update system, or individual notification. A major version change (e.g. 3.2 to 3.3) seems to happen about once or twice a year. Between those times, patches are released as needed, usually every few months.
When a new distribution or patch becomes available, an article is posted to comp.parallel.pvm.
