Subject: References Request

Dear Network,

I am looking for references to any articles, or book sections,
on "matrix/vector" calculus. The Golub-Pereyra paper on differentiation
of pseudo-inverses, etc., is part of what sparks this request, as does
the need to do some first-order matrix-iterative convergence-rate analyses,
and some slap-dash round-off perturbation estimates for matrix algorithms.

What is (are) your favorite reference(s) in this area?

-Richard

Subject: LINPACK and SPARSEPACK written in C ?

A colleague of mine is looking for a set of programs written in C
that offer the same functions as the routines in LINPACK and
SPARSPACK. It should be public domain code or at least pretty
inexpensive.
Please reply to: bischof@svax.cornell.edu
or na.bischof@score.stanford.edu

Thank you,
