Subject: Simulation software Siconos release 4.3.0 is out

A brand new Siconos 4.3.0 release is out !!
http://siconos.gforge.inria.fr

Siconos is an open-source scientific software primarily targeted at
modeling and simulating nonsmooth dynamical systems in C++ and in Python:
- Mechanical systems (rigid or solid) with unilateral contact and
Coulomb friction and impact (nonsmooth mechanics, contact dynamics,
multibody systems dynamics or granular materials).
- Switched Electrical Circuit such as electrical circuits with ideal
and piecewise linear components: power converter, rectifier,
Phase-Locked Loop (PLL) or Analog-to-Digital converter.
- Sliding mode control systems.
- Biology (Gene regulatory network).

Other applications are found in Systems and Control (hybrid systems,
differential inclusions, optimal control with state constraints),
Optimization (Complementarity systems and Variational inequalities),
Fluid Mechanics, and Computer Graphics.

The source code (zip and tar.gz) can be found on github :
https://github.com/siconos/siconos/releases
We are now working on the release candidate 4.4.0.rc that can be
forked from our github repo master branch.

Binary packages of the 4.2.0 for linuxes for Debian bullseye (testing)
are available here:
https://packages.debian.org/source/bullseye/siconos
The new version 4.3.0 will be available soon.

We have also improved our documentation at
http://siconos.gforge.inria.fr even if it still lacks some polish. We
have also started to feed our YouTube channel,
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgv2siTCJeSdWFPTDk71Iyw So, if you
have any nice applications made with Siconos, please do not hesitate
to contribute. We are interested in showcasing Siconos at work!

For discussions, use the siconos-users mailing list

Subject: New Book, Algorithms from THE BOOK

Algorithms from THE BOOK
by Kenneth Lange

This text cuts across discipline boundaries to highlight some of the
most famous and successful algorithms. Readers are given a close look
at some basic algorithms to help them understand both how these
algorithms operate and how one can assemble complex algorithms from
simpler building blocks. Most of the algorithm descriptions are
accompanied by Julia code, an ideal language for scientific
computing. This code is immediately available for
experimentation. Written in clear, instructive prose consistent with
mathematical rigor, Algorithms from THE BOOK includes a large number
of classroom-tested exercises and background reading material.

Subject: New Book, Solving Problems in Multiply Connected Domains

Solving Problems in Multiply Connected Domains, by Darren Crowdy

This book describes a novel mathematical framework for solving
problems in two-dimensional, multiply connected regions. The framework
is built on a central theoretical concept: the prime function, whose
significance for the applied sciences, especially for solving problems
in multiply connected domains, has been missed until recent work by
the author.

HSU Hamburg, Germany

The Helmut-Schmidt-University / University of the Federal Armed Forces
in Hamburg (Germany) offers a position as a Research Assistant (f/m/d)
to be filled by either a PhD student or a post-doctoral
researcher. The position is initially limited to 3 years and can be
extended depending on performance.

The successful candidate will be working in the the BWFG
interdisciplinary research project "Simulation-based design
optimization of dynamic systems under uncertainties" (principal
investigator: Prof. Dr. Kathrin Welker, HSU Hamburg). The project is
carried out in collaboration with research partners from the
Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Technical University of
Hamburg and from the Department of Mathematics from Hamburg
