Subject: Mining Networks and Graphs, Canada, Apr-May 2015

This workshop will bring together researchers and practitioners in the
field to deal with the emerging challenges in processing and mining
large-scale networks. Such networks can be directed as well as
undirected, they can be labeled or unlabeled, weighted or unweighted,
and static or dynamic. Networks of networks are also of
interest. Specific scientific topics of interest for this meeting
include mining for patterns of interest in networks, efficient
algorithms (sequential/parallel, exact/approximation) for analyzing
network properties, methods for processing large networks (i.e.,
Map-Reduce and Giraph based frameworks), use of linear algebra and
numerical analysis for mining complex networks, database techniques
for processing networks, and fusion of heterogeneous data sources into
graphs. Another particular topic of interest is to couple structural
properties of networks to the dynamics over networks, e.g.,
contagions.

The full-day workshop will feature: 2 invited talks, a session to
showcase tools and systems individuals have developed in this area,
contributed talks, and a short session on open problems and directions
for future research. Papers that describe original and ongoing
research as well as those that describe systems and tools are
solicited.

Subject: IMA Maths in Finance, UK, Jun 2015

The purpose of the conference is to bring together academics and
practitioners interested in mathematical modelling in finance. We
invite researchers whose research work contains a strong Mathematical
element to attend. We have included a broad range of topics with the
aim to expose participants to models, ideas and techniques that they
may not be aware of, and to foster future collaborations.

In recent years many of the underpinning assumptions of classical
Mathematical Finance have been under attack, and now efficient markets
can no longer be assumed by default. The result is that many more
complex real world interactions need to be taken into account, meaning
that the techniques and models from other areas such as Real Options
and Operations Research will be important for the future of
Mathematics in Finance.

Papers will be accepted for the conference based on a 150 word
abstract for oral or poster presentation. Abstracts should be
submitted by Friday 26 February 2015 by e-mail to
conferences@ima.org.uk. Please state whether your title is intended
for oral or poster presentation.

Workshop on "Low-Rank approximation for high performance sparse
solvers". Toulouse, 24-26 June 2015.

In the context of the CIMI Semester on "High performance linear and
nonlinear methods for large scale applications", a workshop on
"Low-rank approximations for high performance sparse solvers" will be
held in Toulouse, France, from 24th to 26th June 2015. The objective
of the workshop is to gather a limited number of people sharing an
interest on this topic and to foster discussions and collaborations.

There are no registration fees for the workshop but interested
participants are asked to propose a contribution to the workshop in
the form of an abstract for a 30 minutes presentation by December 31st
2014. Notifications of acceptance will be given by January 31st 2015.

A session of the conference "Sparse days in St Girons III"

Formerly the ICFD Conference on Numerical Methods for Fluid Dynamics,
1–4 September 2015, Mathematical Institute, University of Oxford

Developments in numerical methods underpin simulations in many ways,
for example in any area where high dimensional problems are governed
by differential equations. Computational fluid dynamics has driven
many developments in this area; however there is a wide range of
application areas where the problems, and indeed solution techniques
may be similar. Numerical methods are important in diverse areas such
as geophysical modelling, fluid-structure interaction,
high-dimensional dynamical systems, weather prediction, climate
modelling, oil reservoir simulation, and so on. The conference will
bring together application specialists, applied mathematicians,
numerical analysts and computational scientists who develop and use
numerical simulations. Applications which focus on data assimilation,
inverse problems, uncertainties or control, which contain as a major
component a high-dimensional forward model, will also be represented.

Conference themes: Higher-order discretization methods; Methods for
uncertainty quantification; Multi-physics / multi-material /
multi-scale simulation; High performance computing (including energy
efficient algorithms and algorithms for emerging architectures);
Optimization / control / design / inverse problems; Numerical analysis
