Subject: Two Post-doc Positions in the Parallel Algorithms Project at
CERFACS

Positions open in the joint laboratory between CERFACS and INRIA

A joint laboratory between INRIA and CERFACS on High Performance Computing
has been recently created. The joint laboratory is located both in Toulouse
and in Bordeaux and has, as its first project, ``HiePACS'' that aims at
addressing the development of new algorithmic methods for massive
parallelism and hybrid architectures.

In order to address these research challenges, two post-doc positions
are now open in the CERFACS Parallel Algorithms team led by Iain Duff.
Methodological and algorithmic research in high performance computing on
next generation architectures and/or high performance solvers for linear
algebra problems (e.g. hybrid solvers for large linear systems of
equations, eigensolvers) are possible target topics for these positions.
The applicant would be expected to join existing projects as well as
showing initiative in pursuing new research directions in that framework.

A strong background in applied mathematics, parallel numerical linear
algebra and in computer science would be ideal. The duration of these
positions is 24 months at most. Additional benefits of the position
include a gross salary in the range 2,900 to 3,100 euros per month and
excellent travel support.

For detailed information about the Parallel Algorithms Project at CERFACS:
http://www.cerfacs.fr/algor

For detailed information about the HiePACS team:
http://hiepacs.bordeaux.inria.fr/

Applications (detailed CV and a one page research plan) should be sent
before May 15th, 2010 to Luc Giraud (luc.giraud@inria.fr) and Xavier
Vasseur (vasseur@cerfacs.fr).

Subject: Postdoc position in computational mechanics at INRIA, France

INRIA invites applications for a postdoctoral position in
computational mechanics. We seek a young researcher who has particular
expertise in some subset of theoretical mechanics, condensed matter
physics, computational mechanics or numerical analysis.

The researcher will take part in a project whose aim is to derive
macroscopic constitutive laws for polymer materials (such as rubber),
based on a microscopic model for polymer-chain networks. Such a
microscopic model is described by a polymer network, an energy
associated with the polymer chains, and a term accounting for excluded
volume effects. Emphasis will be put on :
- the generation of realistic networks (modeling, stochastic geometry,
implementation),
- the excluded volume effects (modeling, implementation),
- the combination with damage (modeling, implementation, analysis).

The position is fully funded by INRIA under the grant ARC DISCO. There
is no teaching duty. It is anticipated that the position would be
taken up sometime between October 1, 2010 and January 1, 2011, and
would have a one year duration. For more details, check the webpage
http://chercheurs.lille.inria.fr/~gloria/postdoc.html.

The post-doc is localized in France, at INRIA Lille, INRIA
Rocquencourt, or Ecole Polytechnique (near Paris). The candidate will
interact with A. Gloria, P. Le Tallec, F. Lequeux, and M. Vidrascu.

Interested applicants can contact Antoine Gloria by email
(antoine.gloria _AT_ inria.fr) for further inquiry.
