Subject: Surveys in Approximation Theory
This is to inform you about a project we have started called "Surveys in
Approximation Theory" (SAT). As the name suggests, this is meant to be a
collection of surveys in the area of approximation theory. It is web-based
and free.
Its main homepage is at:
http://www.math.technion.ac.il/sat/
Have a look.
SAT is not meant as a first-publication journal, nor a collection of
electronic monographs or textbooks. Instead, the survey articles we hope to
collect here are meant to review a topic while citing, explaining and
assessing the most relevant, important and interesting aspects of the topic.
We hope that, in this manner, SAT will provide a valuable and unique service
to the approximation theory and mathematical community. Articles may be
broad or narrow in scope. The essential requirements are a well specified
topic, together with clear exposition.
Articles will appear as they are ready. All articles will be peer reviewed
(refereed). Peer reviewing is essential in the maintainance of high
standards. No attempt will be made to speed up the refereeing process at the
cost of quality.
If you wish to submit an article, please confer with any one of us and let
us have a tentative title and a brief description of planned contents.
If you would like to be notified of new papers accepted to SAT then
subscribe to the electronic mailing list.
We subscribe to the notion that mathematical research and exposition
should be freely available on-line. That should be the 21st century
meaning of the word "publication". This is one motivation for SAT.

Applications are invited for a post-doctoral research assistant to be part
of a leading interdisciplinary research team into the complex flows of
polymer melts with specific molecular architectures. This is the second
phase of the EPSRC/industry funded "Microscale Polymer Processing"
consortium of 6 academic and 6 industrial partners. This post will be held
in the Mathematics department at University College London. Other centres
